Benbulben rises 526m above the ground, and it is quite the amazing hike for locals and tourists. The scenery at the top is breathtaking for everyone able to get there. Climbing the north face of the mountain is dangerous since high winds and storms come from the Atlantic. However, the climb from the south side of the mountain is fairly easy since the mountain slopes very gently for climbers. Some of the area of Benbulben is private property, but there are paved paths and trails for the public to use. Benbulben is located about 16km north of Sligo Town and about 15km south of Mullaghmore.
