Clifden is Connemara’s largest town, and it is often referred to as ‘the Capital of Connemara.’ Right down the road from Clifden is Derrigimlagh Bog, an incredible mosaic of tiny lakes and peat with two areas of international historical significance. Clifden is also close to Connemara National Park, which is another popular spot filled with spectacular views. Connemara National Park has different walking trails and hikes available for guests. The most popular thing for locals and tourists to do while in Clifden is drive down Sky Road. It is not an easy drive necessarily, but it is definitely worth the trouble to see the beautiful countryside.
